Medical Billing Clerk

When you complete this course you will have the skills and the knowledge to obtain entry level employment as a Medical Billing Clerk. This course will include medical terminology along with anatomy and physiology that will enable you to comprehend and interpret medical procedures and diagnoses referenced in the ICD-10 and CPT code books. Basic billing concepts along with specific information relating to electronic submission of medical claims processed in the Western New York area will be taught using the Federally Certified Medical Record System Medent. You will join the Medical Association of Billers (MAB) and take the Certified Medical Billing Specialist Exam which is included in the course. Medent software is used by 80% of Doctor's Offices in WNY. A mandatory 100 hour internship is required during class time.  Prerequisite: A High School diploma or HSE.

To register for this class you must first attend a Full Time Program orientation and testing session at Erie 1 BOCES Workforce Development Center.

2. Prospective students must attend an Orientation session at the Erie 1 BOCES Workforce Development Center.  Click here for the Orientation schedule.  Orientation will include a basic Math and Reading test using the TABE test (Test of Adult Basic Education)
