Regional Services/Networks
Regional Services consists of two divisions: School Support Services and Community Youth Development Services. These divisions include the State-funded networks housed within Erie 1 BOCES.
Included in School Support Services are the following networks:
BETAC (Bilingual Education/ESL Technical Assistance Center)
SETRC (Special Education Training and Resource Center)
WNYTCS (Western New York Transition Coordination Site)
RSSC (Western New York School Support Center)/Reading First
Links to these networks can be found at the left margin.
Community Youth Development Services houses the Student Support Services Network Center (SSSN).
The School Support Services Division provides technical assistance to help improve student performance for English language learners, special education, Title 1, schools in need of improvement and comprehensive school reform.
The Division of School Support Services is composed of five technical assistance centers, working in conjunction with the New York State Education Department and serving the Western New York Area. These centers include the Bilingual/ESL Technical Assistance Center (BETAC), the Special Education Training and Resource Center (SETRC), the Western New York Transition Coordination Site (WNYTCS), and the Western New York School Support Center (SSC).
The SSC, BETAC, and WNYTCS serve districts and schools in Cattaraugus-Allegany, Erie1, Erie 2, and Orleans-Niagara BOCES; SETRC serves Erie 1 BOCES only.
Working collaboratively, these centers provide technical assistance to low-performing districts and schools identified as Schools in Need of Improvement (SINI) under the NYS System of Accountability for Student Success (SASS) and the federal No Child Left Behind Act of 2001.
