The program is a collaborative effort between Erie 1 BOCES and the Western New York Children’s Psychiatric Center. Both mental health and educational services are provided on a short-term basis to secondary level students (middle and high school) who are experiencing a mental health crisis and need services that will stabilize their condition and allow them to return to their classroom program. The recommended length of stay in the program is four weeks. A placement at the home school needs to be held. The program is open to both general education and special education students. Small class size (eight students maximum), maintenance of the educational program, intensive counseling and family involvement are key elements of the program. School assignments must be provided by the home school.
