District Superintendent/CEO

Donald A. Ogilvie is district superintendent of the Erie 1 Board of Cooperative Educational Services (Erie 1 BOCES), a leadership role responsible for providing a variety of instructional, managerial and technology services to school districts in Erie County and throughout NYS. As district superintendent, Mr. Ogilvie is also a field representative of the New York State Commissioner of Education for the region.

Dr. Darleen Michalak

Deputy Superintendent/COO

Dr. Darleen Michalak is the deputy superintendent and chief operating officer (COO) at Erie 1 BOCES where she has been an employee for almost 30 years. Dr. Michalak's primary job is to provide leadership and support for the continual improvement of Erie 1 BOCES' administrative operations. For the past several years, she has been the Plan Administrator for the Erie 1 BOCES Health Benefits Trust Plan serving Erie 1 BOCES and several school districts in Western New York.

Margaret Jones-Carey

Chief Academic Officer/Executive Director for Regional Services

This position serves as the leader of Erie 1 BOCES instructional services and regional programs. This includes supervision of all instructional and Regional Services staff. The position works closely with component school district superintendents, leads the monthly meetings of the Instructional Development Advisory Board and works directly with the New York State Education Department in the delivery of technical assistance to the districts served by the RSSC, Model Transition Project, Student Support Services, S3TAIR, Regional Special Education Training Assistance Support Center, Bilingual Education/ESL Technical Assistance Center and TransitionWORKS.

Carol Barber

Chief Technology Officer/Executive Director of the WNYRIC

Carol Barber Troskosky is the associate superintendent for planning and chief technology officer (CTO) for Erie 1 BOCES. This role reflects Erie 1 BOCES' commitment to continual improvement of services, specifically in the integration of new technology into instructional and managerial areas. In this position, Troskosky oversees the Western New York Regional Information Center, which provides technology services to approximately 100 school districts and nearly 300,000 students in the state.
