2009 - 2010 Service Catalog

Welcome

We approach the development of our educational plans for the 2009-2010 school year with more questions than answers. We face a projected deficit in the current New York State budget which is expected to compound during the next few years. We await both the executive budget proposal and the response by the Legislature and Regents. There are also credible, well publicized proposals by state commissions which would drive systemic change intended to manage local costs.

Contained within the long lists of recommendations of The NYS Commission on Local Government Efficiency and Competiveness and The NYS Commission on Property Tax Relief is support for extension of the BOCES model to municipalities and the other entities contained within the University of the State of New York.

In times of economic uncertainty, Erie 1 BOCES is proud to be a reliable organization for school districts to supplement instructional, technical and administrative resources. Sharing is a way for school districts to purchase new and continue existing services at reduced costs.

As you review the service directory, I ask that you note the number of new services that are listed. We cannot only rely on what worked in the past because the needs of our customers create a dynamic environment. But it is not just the services of Erie 1 BOCES that continuously evolve - it is the way we do business.

We are looking forward to 2009-2010, despite the challenges, because of the opportunities to serve. Please see the interactive version of the Service Directory to the left of this text. However, if you need to see a PDF version of the printed book please click here.
