The Test Scoring/Scanning service accommodates the scoring and scanning of NYS elementary, intermediate, and Regents assessments.  The Test Scoring service includes the preprinting of answer sheets and in some cases the printing of student labels for test booklets.  Once the answer sheets have been scanned, the student scores are then submitted into the Data Warehouse and forwarded to NYSED.  The Test Scoring service provides item response data for the Data Warehouse with item analysis, gap analysis, and distractor analysis capabilities.  The Test Scoring/Scanning service also offers a service which allows districts to scan Regents, Science 4 and 8, and Social Studies 5 and 8 assessments in the district rather than at the WNYRIC.

The Data Warehouse service aggregates data from several sources (e.g. student management systems, Special Education systems, assessments) into a central database.  With Web-enabled software tools from COGNOS, users can do multidimensional analysis, data mining, and download data as needed to Excel, PDF and CSV format.  Districts are provided access to student and assessment data in a multi-dimensional cube, report, and useful view form.  Regional comparisons and benchmark data for assessments are also provided.  CIO (Chief Information Officer) meetings are conducted during the school year to facilitate communications among SED, WNYRIC, and the districts.
