Message from the District Superintendent

Recognizing perseverance and progress

Working toward a better tomorrow is a concept that perpetually challenges humanity. Work, career and personal goals are in constant shift, evolving with external factors that are often beyond an individual’s control. Educators, including the team at Erie 1 BOCES, tackle this challenge daily. In tandem, we tend to those currently in our care while preparing for their futures.

Evolutionary change can be difficult to notice, rarely making splashy headlines, but it is just as important to acknowledge. When fostering and nurturing optimal conditions for success within our component school districts, we are proud to be behind the scenes - knowing that we have made a difference in the lives of countless students. However, Erie 1 BOCES’ instructional divisions allow us an opportunity to make a personal connection and celebrate an individual’s progress.

This spring, at our Board of Education meeting, Erie 1 BOCES’ administration recognized 11 outstanding students who have exhibited great integrity and perseverance. The Excel Honorees included Hayleigh Benson, Amanda Buscaglia, Joei Colondres, Letia Commodore, Jerome Hearn II, Kyle Huttenmaier, Dylan Lis, Michael Marcil, Alex Prims, Sydney Towle and Kerri Wilson.

As you glance at the Excel Honoree photos and read the pages of the June E-Journal, please join me in commemorating the efforts of those who are working toward a better tomorrow.
