Custodians express pride in their work on National Custodian Day
As National Custodian Day approaches on October 2, staff members in Facilities express pride in the work they do every day.
"I just like that when I get my job done, everything looks good," said Sandy Schultz, a custodian at the Kenton Career and Technical Center who has worked for Erie 1 BOCES for 23 years. "I care about what I do."
In addition to their daily responsibilities, the crew put in long hours this summer as the center underwent renovations to ensure the building was ready for the first day of classes.
“The dedication they showed was truly amazing,” said Warren Ristine, director of facilities for Erie 1 BOCES.
Among the newest hires for the team at the Kenton Career and Technical Center is Joe Warren, who said it was "time for a change" after more than two decades working for cable companies in roles like lineman and line supervisor, and service in the Air Force.
"I really enjoy working with the team," Warren said. "They've been very welcoming."
Ristine said that Erie 1 BOCES has 27 custodial staff members across the organization and said that their efforts are appreciated each and every day.
“Hard work is the ladder that takes you to success and you are all standing on the top rung,” Ristine said. “Thank you so very much for keeping us safe.”
