Future Welder is Laser-Focused on His Career Path
Justin Capasso is a senior from Frontier High School and is enrolled in the Welding program at Erie 1 BOCES Potter Career and Technical Center.
“I enrolled in BOCES because my brother let me use his welder without fear of failure and I was able to weld all different types of things and loved it. I knew I wanted to make a career of it,” Justin said.
In the fall of 2021, following graduation, Justin plans on securing his CDL to complement his welding skills, and continue welding large projects. He is also considering joining the Marines using his trade skills.
Under the instruction of Daniel Feeney, Justin has learned about metal working safety, plasma arc cutting, oxy-fuel cutting, and more.
“Justin has changed his attitude with school and he is willing to help me or other students whenever possible,” said Feeney. “He has improved by leaps and bounds. His attitude and work ethic is fantastic. I am very proud of him.”
“This program has provided me an advantage to reach my goals by giving me the opportunity to focus on the career I want, since I always knew what direction I wanted to go,” Justin said.
As part of public education, Erie 1 BOCES offers a variety of career and technical programs during the regular school day to high school students in Erie County.
