CAD Alumnus Enjoys Supporting District Technology
For the past 27 years, Elma resident Scott Przywara has spent his professional life working for the same organization that educated him during high school.
Przywara is the chief data protection, security and compliance officer at Erie 1 BOCES. While enrolled at St. Mary’s High School in Lancaster, he completed the two-year Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD) program at Erie 1 BOCES Harkness Career & Technical Center in 1994.
His instructor in the program, Peter Morath, utilized computers at every possible avenue for the class.
“It was a great opportunity to learn CAD and work hands-on in the field with various employers,” Przywara said. “At St. Mary’s, I had taken a few drafting courses, which sparked my interest in taking CAD at BOCES.”
Przywara started working at Erie 1 BOCES the summer after he graduated, when he was hired to utilize the CAD system to diagram the networks and organization flowcharts as a microcomputer support assistant. Years later, he got into the instructional side to provide service for applications, becoming a computer support technician.
Przywara found himself in a new role when he applied to become a microcomputer technical support specialist (MCTSS). After a merger between instructional and technical supports, he began working in a centralized team, helping him expand his knowledge of the organization. He was also assigned to support the Board of Education and build out a new Mobile Device Management service (MDM).
He continued his corporate climb after becoming a senior MCTSS, helping develop and run a new cloud-based support service and an energy-saving software application (Big Fix). With a need for managing these burgeoning programs arising, Przywara was promoted to chief MCTSS and was put in charge of supervising the Lifecycle team, which assists with MDM, System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Big Fix.
“Erie 1 BOCES is not only a great career, but it’s a great opportunity that students should not miss out on,” Przywara noted. “It has been amazing working alongside so many people to implement new programs and support the technological capabilities of our districts.”
