Future Manufacturing Engineer
Johnny Marranca is a senior from Williamsville South High School and is enrolled in the Engineering and Robotics program at Erie 1 BOCES Harkness Career and Technical Center. In the fall of 2020, following graduation, Johnny will attend college to pursue a career in manufacturing engineering.
Johnny believes this class has given him an advantage to further his education. “This program has enabled me to improve my robotics skills, coding skills, and foster my creative know-how,” Johnny said.
Under the instruction of Stan Orynawka, Johnny has learned about 3D Solid Modeling, how to utilize the design process, learn how to communicate using words, pictures, sketches and drawings.
“John has creativity, hard work, and vision,” said Orynawka. “In class he is a leader and enjoys helping other students be successful in their classwork.”
As part of public education, Erie 1 BOCES offers a variety of career and technical programs during the regular school day to high school students in Erie County. High school students interested in learning more about how they can participate in various programs such as engineering, web and gaming technologies, nursing or aviation technology, should visit www.e1b.org/cte or speak with their high school counselor.
