Plumbing and HVAC Student Feels Ready to Join Workforce
Brandon Miller is a senior from West Seneca West High School and is enrolled in the Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning program at Erie 1 BOCES Potter Career and Technical Center.
“I enrolled in BOCES because I’ve wanted to make a career out of plumbing and HVAC since I was in eighth grade,” Brandon said.
In the fall of 2021, following graduation, Brandon plans on working in the plumbing and HVAC industry.
Under the instruction of Thomas Wood, Brandon has learned about potable water systems, soldering and brazing, central air conditioning systems, and more.
“Brandon has become extremely motivated to learn the trade. He has completed all work on time, if not early,” said Wood. “He has also been helpful with his fellow students.”
“This program has provided me an advantage to reach my goals by helping me learn and know a trade that interests me,” Brandon said.
As part of public education, Erie 1 BOCES offers a variety of career and technical programs during the regular school day to high school students in Erie County. High school students interested in learning more about how they can participate in various programs such as sports science careers, web technologies and game programming, health careers or aviation technology, should visit www.e1b.org/cte or speak with their high school counselor.
