Acing Animal Science
Kylie Tolsma is a senior from Sweet Home High School and is enrolled in the Animal Science program at Erie 1 BOCES Kenton Career and Technical Center.
“I enrolled in BOCES because I knew it would help prepare me for my future career,” Kylie said.
In the fall of 2020, following graduation, Kylie plans to continue her education and attend Medaille College. “I hope to work at a veterinary hospital and to finetune my grooming skills.”
Under the instruction of Laura Karlnoski, Kylie has learned about veterinary first aid including triage, proper grooming tools and techniques, surgical nursing, medicine, reproduction and more.
“Kylie has put forth a consistent effort in all her assignments this semester,” said Karlnoski. “The quality of her work has been excellent, and she continues to score well on tests and exams. She plans to continue her education and become a veterinary technician.”
As part of public education, Erie 1 BOCES offers a variety of career and technical programs during the regular school day to high school students in Erie County.
