Mrs. Ward Celebrating 30 Years of Service
Erie 1 BOCES would like to applaud Elma resident Karen Ward, secretary to the director, for reaching a significant milestone in her career. Ward was recently recognized for her 30 years of service to the organization.
Ward has worked in the Western New York Regional Information Center (WNYRIC) at Erie 1 BOCES’ Education Campus in West Seneca since 2008. In her role, she works closely with the director of K-12 Education Support Services, Rosanne Huffcut.
In 1991, Ward was employed by Erie 1 BOCES as a clerk/typist in the Buildings and Grounds Department at the Harkness Career & Technical Center in Cheektowaga. While there, she enjoyed working alongside students and teachers in the school.
She eventually transferred to the former Lancaster Service Center after being promoted to senior clerk/typist in the Finance and Legislation Services Department. Before taking on her current role, she served as the assistant to the district superintendent and district clerk for 10 years.
“Having worked in several departments, I have had the opportunity to learn about all the services that BOCES offers,” Ward said. “I am grateful for the opportunity to work with such wonderful people along the way. Thank you to my supervisor, Rosanne, and the leadership in the Technology Services division for their support, and to my coworkers for all their help each day.”
Ward has been married for 30 years. She and her husband have two children together, both of whom are adults with successful careers in law enforcement and business administration.
