Accomplished Auto Tech Student
Brian Eiskant is a senior from Lackawanna High School and is enrolled in the Auto Technician Training program at Erie 1 BOCES Potter Career and Technical Center.
“I enrolled in BOCES because I have a passion for working with my hands and on cars,” Brian said. “This program has helped me jump start my career in the automotive field.”
In the fall of 2020, following graduation, Brian plans to attend Alfred State for four years, studying automotive service for two years and heavy-duty truck and diesel for another two years. After college, Brian hopes to get a job at a dealership or a heavy-duty equipment repair facility as a technician.
Under the instruction of Charles Shevlin, Jr., Brian has learned about computer diagnostics, engine performance, engine repair, and more.
“Brian is a hard worker who strives to be successful in and out of the classroom,” said Shevlin. “At the NFADA Ron Smith Memorial Auto Competition, his team placed third in the region.”
As part of public education, Erie 1 BOCES offers a variety of career and technical programs during the regular school day to high school students in Erie County. High school students interested in learning more about how they can participate in various programs such as automotive, web and gaming technologies, nursing or aviation technology, should visit www.e1b.org/cte or speak with their high school counselor.
