Honing Technical & Workplace Skills
Nicholas Krupa is a senior from Lancaster High School and is enrolled in the Digital Media program at Erie 1 BOCES Harkness Career and Technical Center.
“I entered this program because I had an interest in art design since I was young, and I also love working with computers,” Nicholas said. In the fall of 2020, following graduation, Nicholas plans on going to college. He believes this program has strengthened his workplace skills.
“This program helped me with time management, how to plan for the week, and what I must do to prepare for that event,“ Nicholas added. Under the instruction of Joe Mattimore, Nicholas learned how to operate software and hardware used by today’s digital media workforce.
“Nick works hard to develop his skills in digital media production, mainly focusing on sports illustration,” said Mattimore. “He strives to do his best work on every project that is offered, is willing to do extra when asked, and helps others when needed.”
As part of public education, Erie 1 BOCES offers a variety of career and technical programs during the regular school day to high school students in Erie County. High school students interested in learning more about how they can participate in various programs such as digital media, web and gaming technologies, nursing or aviation technology, should visit www.e1b.org/cte or speak with their high school counselor.
