Aspiring Engineer Feels Prepared for Future
Morris Morlock is a senior from Maryvale High School and is enrolled in the Engineering and Robotics program at Erie 1 BOCES Harkness Career and Technical Center.
“I enrolled in BOCES because I want to pursue a career in engineering, and this program is helping me decide what field I want to pursue,” Morris said.
In the fall of 2021, following graduation, Morris plans on going to college for engineering.
Under the instruction of Stanley Orynawka, Morris has learned about computer integrated manufacturing (CIM), VEX Robotics, engineering design and development (EDD), and more.
“Morris is an intelligent student who works hard,” said Orynawka. “I’m sure he will excel in his future endeavors.”
“This program has provided me an advantage to reach my goals by giving me an idea of what I should expect in the future and what it’ll take to be successful in my career,” Morris said. “This class hasn’t always been easy, but it has helped me deal with diversity and being able to problem solve in order to do well.”
As part of public education, Erie 1 BOCES offers a variety of career and technical programs during the regular school day to high school students in Erie County. High school students interested in learning more about how they can participate in various programs such as sports science careers, web technologies and game programming, health careers or aviation technology, should visit www.e1b.org/cte or speak with their high school counselor.
