Meet Scott Michienzi

In May, Scott Michienzi became the Western New York Regional Information Center (WNYRIC) account advisor for the 19 component districts of Erie 1 BOCES. As account advisor, he is the primary liaison between district leadership and the various departments and resources available through the WNYRIC and Erie 1 BOCES. Michienzi’s appointment follows the retirement of Maureen Taylor after thirty-one years of service.

Michienzi has been with Erie 1 BOCES for the past seven years. He began as a coordinator for the PowerSchool SMS support team before becoming an account advisor to Cattaraugus/Alleghany districts three years ago. His career in education began more than two decades ago as a school counselor with time spent in elementary, middle, high school, special ed, alternative ed, and career and technical education settings. After counseling, but prior to joining the Erie 1 BOCES team, Michienzi made the  jump to administration and served as a director of technology for seven years.

When asked about the new appointment, Michienzi admits, “I have big shoes to fill following Maureen,” before adding that he feels he is going “back to his roots.” He will bring his background and years of service to the components with fresh eyes and a fresh outlook on what it means to be an account advisor. “I want to be a consultant for our districts. I want to spend time listening to see how we can best utilize the resources available to help teachers and impact students.”
