Auto Service Technician
  • Gain an understanding of the safe and proper diagnostic and repair procedures.  Get hands-on experience with tools and equipment, preventative maintenance, brake system repair, steering and suspension service, electrical system maintenance, engine performace, including diagnostic scanner use, and New York State Inspection procedures.
  • A TABE score of 7.0 in reading and 7.0 in math is required*.
  • A personal interview will be conducted.
  • A valid high school diploma or equivalency is required.
  • A $300 security deposit is required.
  • A valid NYS Driver’s License is required.
Previous employers include Ray Laks Honda, Auction Direct USA, Mike Smith Buick GMC, and West Herr Automotive Group.  Entry level Automotive Service Technicians can expect to earn an average of $12.00/hour.  A Placement Specialist is on staff to assist you with resume writing and interview skills.
To register for this class you must first attend a full-time program Orientation and Testing Session at Erie 1
BOCES Workforce Development Center.

  • The cost of the program is $3,300.  Financial assistance may be available through ACCES-VR, BETC/ECC One Stop, NETC, the US Department of Veterans Affairs, or other sources.
