Pizza Palooza gets Breakfast Twist with Hamburg Students

Eighth-grade students from Hamburg Middle School headed to the Potter Career & Technical Center hungry to make their own breakfast pizzas on Friday, March 29.

Dozens of Family and Consumer Science (FACS) students from Sheri Gund's and Stacey Smith's classes rolled up their sleeves and put on their aprons to create their custom-made pizzas from scratch during Pizza Palooza. A handful of high school students from Lauren Sikora's and Stephen Doherty's Culinary Arts classes guided the students through the process, which included making the dough and adding the toppings.

Pizza Palooza is one of many Middle School Modules (also known as Mods), which pair an Erie 1 BOCES Career and Technical Education (CTE) instructor with a teacher from an Erie 1 BOCES component district to add a hands-on component to lessons. Additional Mods include Cupcake Wars, Theatrical Make-Up and Runway to Fashion, among others.
