Students Show Off Styles at FUSION Fashion Show

Student model posing on runwayThe 10th annual FUSION Fashion Show on May 15 brought hundreds of people to the Harkness Career & Technical Center to see the culminating work of students in the Fashion Design Technology program.

Models hit the runway with their student-made outfits for the show. This year's theme was "Mosaic of Art," with seniors exhibiting their personally designed and sewn collections and juniors showing pieces that they sewed. A few animal-friendly fashions were worn by dogs, as well.

The show has evolved into a collaborative art event across various Erie 1 BOCES programs. This year, a “hair show” element was added, with Cosmetology program students doing hair and makeup for 14 of their own models. Additional programs involved in the show included Culinary Arts, Animal Science, Barbering, Building Trades, Baking & Pastry Arts, Video Production & Recording Arts, Criminal Justice and Digital Media.

Participants also create a successful business plan for a fashion boutique, setting them up for future success.
