GST Summer Regional Tech Summit

Two-Day Event Will Feature National Speaker

Thomas Murray will lead a full-day workshop on day one of the summit.Educators will not want to miss this year’s Greater Southern Tier Summer Regional Tech Summit. Featuring a full-day workshop with nationally known speaker Thomas Murray and a second day with a choice of breakout sessions, the GST Summit is designed to facilitate learning and creating around technology integration in the classroom.

“Following the success of last year’s summer conference, WNYRIC was excited to partner again with Canisteo Greenwood to bring in another exceptional speaker, a leader in the technology field that can provide teachers with inspiration and resources on best practices to incorporate technology and curriculum in their classrooms every day,” Elizabeth Freas, director of instructional technology and professional development for the Western New York Regional Information Center (WNYRIC), said.

The GST Summit will be held July 9-10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Canisteo High School, 84 Greenwood Street, Canisteo, New York. Follow this link to register online.

On day one, renowned national speaker Thomas Murray, director of innovation for Future Ready Schools, will conduct a full-day workshop where participants will: 
• Develop a deeper understanding of strategies to transform teaching, learning, and leadership through evidence-based strategies 
• Understand what it takes to create a culture of innovation in your school or classroom 
• Identify elements to make learning personal and authentic for all students 
• Work to create learning spaces that meet the needs of today's students while setting the stage for improved outcomes, even on little to no budget 
• Understand what educational technology practices are worth the time and which are ultimately a waste of time and money 
• Explore and leverage teacher-curated digital tools and resources to support your school or classroom 
• Understand how to share the great things happening in your classrooms each day in relevant ways 
• Leave challenged, inspired, and proud of the work we do each day

“We are going to have a lot of fun, … I want to help amplify the awesome things that are already happening in your school and districts every single day … (and) we are going to be practical,” Murray said in a video. See Thomas Murray's video here. (Transcript of the video is available here.)

Day two will feature 50-minute breakout sessions provided by Erie 1 BOCES tech integrators and professional development specialists to support and enhance the work being done in your schools around technology and technology integration. 

“Continuing day one’s focus, day two’s sessions will center on 21st century tech implementation and learning, as well as Office 365, Google Apps for Education, ISTE standards and more. Registrants will have the opportunity to select sessions based on their interests, connections to their content, and their district’s technology goals,” Brittany Thoma, staff and curriculum development coordinator said. 

Please make sure you bring your own device. If you plan on attending any Office 365 sessions, you will need to ensure that you have an active Office 365 account. Breakfast will be provided both days starting at 8:15. Lunch break will be noon to 1 p.m. both days. Lunch is not provided.
