Meet David Brace

David Brace works at his desk.Familiar face takes on new role

David Brace is a familiar face at Erie 1 BOCES, having worked in several different roles over the past 20 years  with the Western New York Regional Information Center (WNYRIC). However, until recently, you may have only interacted with Brace in the central installation services warehouse.

Now, Brace has also taken on the role of overseeing the Service Desk. The Service Desk is positioned to provide quick and efficient delivery of services, processes and responses to both internal and external customer needs.

“The Service Desk runs like a well-oiled machine. My predecessor, Sherry Wyckoff-Bauer, is a tough act to  follow. I was honored the leadership team felt I had the capabilities to fill her shoes because she knew the service inside and out.” Brace said. He added that he has a great team behind him, as he learns the ropes of his new role.

One important role that the Service Desk provides is in support of the WNYRIC project managers, customer  service representatives and technology consultants, who interact directly with the school districts of Western New York. Nine districts are considered Managed Service districts, for which Brace’s two services function in support of their technology needs.

“We are getting ready for our busy season,” Brace said. “Summer is when most of the districts want to roll out new technology and we help them accomplish that by making sure it is delivered in a timely manner and service questions are handled properly and quickly. We want everything running smoothly when teachers and students come back in September.”

The service desk is available Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. by calling (716) 821-7171 or 1-800-872-0780 or by email at servicedesk@e1b.org. A representative will be available from 4:30 p.m. through 11 p.m. to assist with calls regarding emergency situations. During all other hours and holidays, a caller will receive important information regarding coverage.
