Surveillance Testing Options
December 6, 2021
Attention Erie 1 BOCES Families,
Re: COVID Testing at EDGE, Maryvale, Northtowns and Winchester
Last month you received notification about our partnership with ECDOH, Quadrant and Buffalo Home Care to provide voluntary COVID testing. We apologize to those of you who consented to participate, but for reasons outside of our control, testing never came to fruition. So, as we have many times throughout the pandemic, we are going to pivot.
In the coming weeks, we will establish COVID test sites at EDGE, Maryvale, Northtowns and Winchester for both staff and students. Testing will be conducted by our staff. We will be using highly accurate, PCR tests using a swab from the shallow base of the nose. This is for the purposes of surveillance testing only as required by ECDOH and is meant as a preventative strategy and to take a pulse on school transmission.
Per the ECDOH, we will be testing 10% of of student volunteers each week. This means your child could be subject to test once every 2 months or so. You will be notified in advance of your child’s test. However, we will only contact you with the results if they are positive. Results take 24 hours or less to process.
Please use the link below if you agree to allow your child to participate in testing and be sure to click “Submit.” Thank you for your continued support, patience and cooperation.
