Medical Office Assistant
When you complete this course, you will have the skills needed for employment as an entry-level Medical Office Assistant. You will learn computer skills using Microsoft Office and Medent software. There is a minimum keyboarding and numerical keypad program requirement for successful completion. We will familiarize you with medical terminology and basic clinical skills such as: room set-up, patient preparation and education, charting of measurements, basic lab tests, vital signs and HIPAA. Using Medent, you will learn Electronic Medical Records (E.M.R.), computerized office scheduling and triage. The communication skills necessary to work in a busy, professional medical office are included in this course. (250 Hour Program)

- A TABE score of 8.5 in reading and 7.0 in math*.
- A personal interview will be conducted.

Previous employers include Buffalo OB-GYN, Primary Center of WNY, Respiratory Services of WNY, OBGYN Associates of WNY, Lancaster Medical, Century-Airport Pediatrics, Buffalo Medical Group and Brain and Spine Center. Entry-level Medical Office Assistants or Secretaries can expect to earn an average of $16 to $18 per hour.
