Through this consortium, teachers and administrators will have the opportunity to network, learn from, and reflect on best practices of Project Based Learning. Some of the topics that will be addressed are the essential elements and teaching practices as defined by PBL Works (The Buck Institute), and instructional strategies such as inquiry-based learning, cooperative learning, differentiation, and formative, alternative, and authentic assessment. |
Consortium for Student Empowerment Through Innovation (CSETI) Day 5 | 1/28/21 | Melanie Kitchen, Molly Gallagher | Day 5: Whole Group Meeting - CSETI is a community of educational professionals working together to collaborate on ideas, problem-solve, share resources and support each other to expand the student empowerment movement. Our vision is to create a setting that empowers students to cultivate leadership and 21st Century Skills in order to positively impact the world. |

Minecraft Education Edition in the Classroom | 3/3/21 | Antonio Scordo | The workshop will focus on utilizing the special tools only available in Minecraft Education Edition for to achieve student learning objectives. Ample time will be given to class management, lesson creation, and exploration of curricular lesson tool kits available for Minecraft Education Edition. |
The Digital Art Museum (Day 1) | 3/3/21 | Andrew Wheelock | This 2-day course will showcase digital art tools that will be displayed in Erie 1 BOCES Digital Art Virtual World program. Teachers will learn about Digital Art creation programs and how to support students within our virtual world program. Pricing: Erie 1 Districts must be in DL Base. Districts outside of Erie 1 Must be in part of Local Boces Base.

Introduction to becoming a Drone Pilot | 3/9/21 | Phillip Miano | This workshop with provide an overview of our drone pilot program will guide participants in exploring the use of drone technology. Instruction is facilitated by an experienced FAA Remote Pilot. The target audience is teachers of secondary students. The over arching goal is to assist participants in becoming a Part 107 FAA Drone Pilot (Age of 16 required). Topics include but not limited to exploring drone technology, FAA Drone Zone, FAA Educational Users, Part 107 Rules and Regulations Overview, Drones in Industry, Drone Law Overview, Drone Safety. This pilot will assist educators in turnkey training students to become licensed drone pilots including discussing all associated costs and time commitments. The pilot includes the flight training with the supervised use of DJI Mavic Air & DJI Spark drones. |
