Inaugural Regional Leadership Retreat Encourages Collaboration
More than 100 school leaders from across Western New York gathered to learn together from July 20-22, 2026 during the inaugural Erie 1 BOCES leadership retreat at the Holiday Valley Resort in Ellicottville. This year's theme was "Elevate Together: Strengthening School Communities through Leadership and Collaboration."
During the retreat, which brought together 106 representatives from 10 different schools and educational organizations, participants were able to hear three dynamic keynote speakers: Brian Miller on "How to Magically Connect with Anyone," Morgan Hardy, CEO of Leadership Buffalo on "Leadership Buffalo: Reflections on Leadership," and Charles Fonbuena of Franklin Covey on "the Four Essential Roles of Leadership",.
Following the keynote events, attendees selected from conference-style offerings by Erie 1 BOCES or participated in their local team meetings.
With support from NYSCATE, districts had the opportunity to interact with various educational vendors and engage in sponsored activities like golf and the sky coaster.
