Leaders Explore the Future of Employer Health Benefits

Employers today face growing challenges as healthcare costs rise, benefit options expand, and employee expectations evolve. To help organizations navigate this complex landscape, Erie 1 BOCES recently hosted The Future of Employer Health Benefits, a conference that brought together healthcare experts, benefit consultants, and school leaders to examine emerging trends and practical strategies for managing employee health benefits.
Attendees gained valuable insights into the rapidly changing pharmacy landscape, including regulatory developments, specialty medications, and strategies for evaluating pharmacy-benefit programs. Additional sessions focused on selecting the right funding and risk model for employee health plans and evaluating innovative approaches that bring healthcare services closer to employees through on-site and near-site care. Throughout the day, presenters shared national trends, real-world case studies, and actionable recommendations designed to help organizations make informed decisions while improving employee outcomes.
Featured speakers included Chuck Gamsu of Milliman; Dr. Dyan Hes, Jeremy Carr, and Sonia Ramsey of eMed; Christine Wilson and Greta Kessler of Marsh McLennan Agency; Brian Cappel and Michele Luke of Marathon Health; and conference moderator Joe Wild of JWild Consulting. Erie 1 BOCES Executive Director Jim Fregelette welcomed attendees and joined the closing discussion focused on key takeaways, regional collaboration, and next steps.
By bringing together experts and employers from across the region, the conference provided an important opportunity to explore innovative solutions to strengthen the future of employee healthcare benefits.
