Erie 1 BOCES eAcademy Celebrates Class of 2026

The Erie 1 BOCES eAcademy celebrated the Class of 2026 with a graduation ceremony on Thursday, June 25th, at the Calspan Career and Technical Education Center.

Eleven eAcademy graduates were recognized at the ceremony. eAcademy is a unique virtual learning experience for general education students in grades 7–12. Students across the state participate in courses that are offered as live, real-time synchronous classes scheduled during the school day, with the opportunity for flexible, asynchronous options for some courses.

"When each of you embarked on your educational adventure in high school, you made a conscious decision to challenge convention, break barriers, and redefine success on your own terms," said eAcademy Principal Lindsey Ann Meyers at the graduation ceremony. "You chose an alternative path, one that was less traveled but full of possibilities. And now, as you sit here before your family, friends, and teachers, you can proudly say that you have arrived at your destination."

Teachers, staff members, and Erie 1 BOCES administrators were on hand to celebrate the occasion, as each student received a certificate and enjoyed cupcakes and other refreshments. eAcademy counselor Scott Lachut acted as the master of ceremonies.

Meyers praised her students for their work throughout the school year as well as their determination to seek out an educational experience that allowed them to thrive.

"Remember that the alternative path you chose is not an escape from reality, but an invitation to create a new reality," said Meyers. "You have the power to challenge societal norms, break down barriers, and redefine what it means to succeed. The world needs individuals who dare to be different, who have the audacity to dream big and the determination to turn those dreams into reality. The world needs more individuals like you."
