Northtowns Academy Celebrates 8th-Graders Moving Up!
It was a milestone day at Northtowns Academy on June 24 as the school held its annual Moving Up Ceremony for 8th-grade students.
Twenty-three students were honored in front of their families, friends, and teachers, ready to head to high school with knowledge and skills gained at Northtowns Academy.
“We are so proud of our students,” said Northtowns Academy Principal Terry Ruh. “They have each shown us something special in themselves as they have navigated their middle school years to reach this day. We have grown quite fond of our students.”
“There is a little bit of sadness for us because we won't be here for morning greetings and all the things we do together,” Ruh added. “But the happiness outweighs the sadness.”
The crowd was treated to a heartfelt slideshow, highlighting memories made at Northtowns Academy as well as the growth of the 8th graders throughout their lives.
“Today is an important benchmark in the career of a student,” said Ruh. “It marks their readiness to continue on to a more mature and independent environment. We have prepared you the best way we know how and we are confident that you will find success in your future.”
Award recipients were recognized at the ceremony, including EXCEL Award winners Zion Zenon and Desire Duchnick, and Star Award winners Tremaine Long and Mohammad Abdallah.
Finally, each 8th-grader walked across the stage and received a certificate, signifying the conclusion of their journey at Northtowns Academy.
Before the ceremony concluded, new Assistant Principal Stephanie Brennan delivered a heartfelt message to her first class of 8th-graders.
“As you head off to high school remember to keep showing up, stay curious, and never underestimate your strength or the possibilities that are ahead,” said Brennan. “We're proud of you. We believe in you. And we can't wait to see what you do next. Congratulations, Class of 2025!”
