Wellness Day Brings Maryvale Academy Students Together for Fun, Mindful Activities
Laughter and excitement filled the halls of Maryvale Academy on March 20, 2026, as the school held its second annual Wellness Day.

Students got the chance to sample a variety of activities that prioritized physical, emotional, and mental health.
“The kids had a great time,” said Shelly Wos, a Maryvale Academy teacher who helped organize the event. “The lawn games were very popular. They get to choose where they go and they get a personalized itinerary, so it’s things that interest them that they’re really into.”
Activities included a Lego station, a walking workout, board games, four square, basketball, lawn games, yoga and meditation sessions, a coloring table, and a bracelet-making station.
Last year, the event was held right before Regents week and gave the kids an opportunity to relax before their tests. The event was such a success that it was brought back for this year, this time held on the first day of spring to kickstart the new season.
Maryvale Academy holds school-wide events as often as possible, such as the Olympic Games event held just a week after Wellness Day, to foster school spirit and community.
“They get to socialize with students they don’t normally see due to different lunch periods and programs,” said Wos. “It gets our upstairs and downstairs kids together, which is always really fun and beneficial for both groups.”
Wos credited the entire school staff for joining together to make the event a success!
