Erie 1 BOCES' Alternative Education programs offer options for students who have faced difficulty with:

  • Absenteeism
  • Excessive Tardiness
  • Lack of Academic Progress or Motivation
  • Negative Behavior Choices

The goal of Alternative Education is to provide an individualized approach for students who have not experienced success personally, socially or academically in previous placements. Alternative Education students benefit from increased staff support and positive reinforcements. Team-building activities and community outreach activities enhance students' educational opportunities while reinforcing academic objectives and social/emotional growth. Students may return to their home school when consistent attendance, passing grades and positive behavior are demonstrated.
