The Teacher's Desk Donates $12,000 in School Supplies to Maryvale Academy
In a strong display of generosity, the non-profit, The Teacher's Desk, recently donated a staggering $12,000 worth of school supplies to Maryvale Academy, a school that serves special education students.
The arrival of The Teacher's Desk truck was met with gratitude from both students and staff. Twelve shopping carts brimming with supplies served as a representation of the impact this donation would have on the classrooms.
“As an educator, it really is amazing to have a donation like this to help fill the classrooms. Supplies are expensive, and when we can fill our classrooms with things the students need, it makes for a nice learning environment," said Melissa DiGuiseppe, a teacher at Maryvale Academy.
Maryvale Academy students helped unload and sort the school supplies in the cafeteria. The donations include books, glue, dry-erase markers, pens, highlighters, tape, and much more. Once all the items were sorted, teachers were able to come shop the school supplies for their classrooms.
To show their gratitude, each classroom will be writing thank-you notes to The Teacher's Desk to show their appreciation.
