Erie 1 BOCES employees have the opportunity to enroll in the NYS Retirement System. Based on each individual employees position you will have the ability to enroll in either the New York State Local Retirement System (also known as Employee Retirement System or ERS) or the New York State Teacher Retirement System (TRS).

ERS manages classified employee retirement memberships.  Classified employees include technicians, clerical employees, nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and other classified (non-certified) staff.

TRS manages certified employee retirement memberships.  Certified employees include teachers, school principals and other supervisory and administrative positions.

403(b)

Erie 1 BOCES offers a 403(b) plan to its employees. A 403(b) plan is a tax sheltered annuity retirement savings plan for teachers and other employees of non-profits agencies.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

EAP is a free benefit offered by Erie 1 BOCES to help our employees resolve personal or family problems.

As an employee of Erie 1 BOCES, you are eligible for these services:

  • Up to four free consultation visits per problem incident with a professional counselor.
  • Information and referral to other community resources for specialized or more extensive services.
  • 24-hour telephone access to the program for emergency personal or family crises.
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)

FSA's allow you to have a certain amount of money deducted from your paycheck, before any taxes are calculated, to pay certain medical and daycare expenses.

Because it's tax-free, the amount you set aside is 30 or 40 percent more (depending on your tax bracket) than you would be able to spend without a flexible benefit plan.

Flexible benefit plans could save you thousands of dollars every year!
