Womens History Month 2024
Contributor: Inclusion.Diversity.Equity. Advocacy (I.D.E.A) Committee
The 2024 Women’s History month theme is “Women who advocate for equity, diversity and inclusion.” The theme recognizes women who understand the need to eliminate bias and discrimination from individuals' lives and institutions.
During March, we celebrate the varied contributions women have made throughout history, as well as their specific achievements that have impacted the United States. Women’s History Month began as a one-week national celebration, beginning March 7th . Then, in 1987, the National Women’s History Project petitioned for the entire month of March to become “Women’s History Month.” Over the next several years, Congress would pass resolutions, requesting and authorizing Presidents to proclaim March of each year as Women’s History Month!
