Winchester Academy Student Receives Play 60 Gameday Experience
If you ask Winchester Academy student Aiden Zotara if he is a Buffalo Bills fan he will say, “Yes, since the very first day I was born.”
When I stopped by Aiden’s fifth-grade classroom, although I had not met him, I knew exactly who he was. He awaited my visit adorned in Zubaz, a Buffalo Bills sweatshirt, and a large fuzzy Buffalo Bills hat.
Aiden’s love for the Buffalo Bills did not come from Sundays spent at Highmark Stadium, but rather Sundays spent watching the games at home.
Since September, Aiden has been exercising during gym class every day for 60 minutes as part of the Buffalo Bills Play 60 program. The program is an initiative that encourages kids to get 60 minutes of physical activity each day, eat healthy, and focus on overall wellness.
Little did he know all of that hard work would pay off.
On the Friday before winter recess, Aiden found out he was not only nominated but chosen to attend his first Buffalo Bills game. He was going to the New Year’s Eve matchup against the New England Patriots at Highmark Stadium with other Play 60 students.
With a big smile on his face, he said “I was excited!”
Aiden joined 10 other Play 60 students on the field before the game. They were given Buffalo Bills sweatshirts, sweatpants, gloves, and winter hats. While on the sideline a famous Buffalo Bills wide receiver approached, Stefon Diggs.
“I high-fived him and I high-fived Billy the Buffalo,” he said.
A high-five from Diggs and a day spent watching a Buffalo Bills win at home was enough for Aiden to yell “Let’s Go Buffalo” down the Winchester Academy hallway as I left.
