New CTE Center within the Calspan Business Park
Erie 1 BOCES is proud to announce the opening of a state-of-the-art Career and Technical Education (CTE) center within the Calspan Business Park. The demand for Erie 1 BOCES Career and Technical Education programs has continued to grow over the last eight years, recently resulting in program waitlists at our current Harkness, Potter, and Kenton CTE centers.
By creating a new space to house three of our popular programs, we not only make space to increase opportunity in those programs, but it allows us to make space for all interested students across our 25 two-year CTE programs and help eliminate waitlists.
On September 5, more than 250 students will begin instruction at the new Erie 1 BOCES Career and Technical Education Center at Calspan Business Park.
“This has been a long time coming and I am so excited to welcome all of our students to this new CTE center next week. This is the first school built in a business park, making it the first of its kind in New York State. This partnership with Calspan shows that we continue to find ways to push the envelope on education,” said Erie 1 BOCES Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services Anedda Trautman.
This CTE Center will house three programs: Digital Media; Web Technologies and Game Programming; and Video Production and Recording Arts. This first-of-its-kind center will support student success by offering them industry technology to prepare them for in-demand careers. Students attending will leave prepared to meet the needs that America’s future workforce demands.
“For more than 65 years Erie 1 BOCES has been a leader in innovative programming for thousands of students across Western New York and we’ve been at the forefront of cutting-edge educational opportunities. The Career and Technical Education Center at Calspan Business Park is a testament to that. Not only is this a state-of-the-art facility, but it emphasizes a greater global vision for education,” said Erie 1 BOCES District Superintendent Dr. Michael Capuana.
