Erie 1 BOCES Shines a Spotlight on Career and Technical Education during CTE Month
More than 2,200 students are enrolled in CTE programs at 4 different centers in WNY
February marks Career and Technical Education Month, and Erie 1 BOCES proudly celebrates the profound impact of CTE in shaping the educational landscape and equipping high school students for success across diverse industries.
Scott Bindemann, Erie 1 BOCES Director of Career and Technical Education, said “CTE adapts to our evolving world, providing students with an education that effectively prepares them for both college and careers post-graduation.”
Erie 1 BOCES offers more than 25 different CTE programs like Welding, Culinary Arts, Fashion Design and Technology, Electrical Systems, and Aviation Technology.
“Career and Technical Education is the cornerstone of empowering students with the skills and knowledge essential for success in today's dynamic workforce. By fostering innovation, adaptability, and hands-on learning, CTE not only prepares students for meaningful careers but also cultivates a future generation of leaders who will drive positive change in our communities,” said Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services, Anedda Trautman.
Local industry partners play a vital role in supporting and enhancing all CTE programs. These collaborations provide students with the invaluable opportunity to learn and grow under the guidance of experts in their respective fields.
Furthermore, these partnerships create a bridge for local businesses to connect with potential future employees who’ve dedicated two years to mastering their skills. This not only benefits students but also contributes to narrowing the current skills gap in Western New York (WNY).
As part of CTE Month, Erie 1 BOCES seizes the opportunity to showcase the achievements, innovations, and positive impact of CTE programs on students and the community.
