Tuition: $1,750
The cost of the program is $1,750 and $300 for CNA to HHA Conversion.  A testing fee of $115 is not included in tuition but may be covered by a sponsoring agency.  Financial assistance may be available through ACCES-VR, BETC/ECC One Stop, the US Department of Veterans Affairs, or other sources.
 
Get started by attending an orientation session at the Erie 1 BOCES Workforce Development Center.
 
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Gain the skills needed to obtain employment as an entry level Certified Nursing Assistant or Home Health Aide.  100 hours of this course are classroom and lab skills and 40 hours are done in a clinical setting in a long term care facility.  An additional 40 hours is required for students wishing to earn HHA certification.  Passing a New York State Certification Exam is required for employment as a CNA or HHA.  The exam is administered at an Erie 1 BOCES facility by a New York State examiner.
 
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
  • A TABE score of 9.0 in reading and 5.0 in math is required*.
  • A personal interview will be conducted.
  • An up-to-date physical with immunizations is required.
 
EMPLOYMENT OUTLOOK
Previous employers include Elderwood, Absolut Care, McGuire Group of Nursing Homes, Beechwood Continuing Care, GreenFields Continuing Care and Health Force.  Entry level Certified Nursing Assistants can expect to earn an average of $11 to $12 per hour.  A Placement Specialist is on staff to assist you with resume writing and interview skills.

To register for this class you must first attend a Full Time Orientation and Testing Session at Erie 1 BOCES Workforce Development Center.
