Plumbing is great career for anyone interested in working with their hands while being challenged by new situations every day. Plumbers need problem solving and math skills, they need to be interested in working inside and outdoors, and all good plumbers possess excellent customer service skills.
This plumbing course offered through Erie 1 BOCES Workforce Development covers the basic tools, materials, installation, and repair of common residential and commercial plumbing systems. This comprehensive course prepares individuals for entry-level plumbing jobs. The plumbing fundamentals course is a great first step to becoming a plumbing professional. Whether your plans include pursing a Master Plumber’s license, or you simply want to work in this high-skill, high-demand field, this course will help you reach your professional goals. Registration Process
This program requires an application and entrance exam.

Tuition $3,250
A $250 deposit is required to reserve your spot in this class.
- Tuition does not include safety steel toe work boots. These are the responsibility of the student to get before the program begins.
Admission Requirements
- TABE Score NRS Level 4 in Reading and NRS Level 3 in Math.*
- A personal interview will be conducted.
Employment Outlook
Skilled plumbers are in high demand in the Western New York region. Employment prospects are also good for entry-level plumbers. Depending on experience and area of expertise, entry-level plumbers can expect to start at $20 per hour. With a clean driving record and the ability to work independently, service plumbers are able to earn upwards of $25 per hour. Opportunities are available for plumbers at all skill levels in both commercial and residential settings.
Erie 1 BOCES also provides services such as placement assistance, resume writing and interview skills to help students in their search for a career as a plumber.
