Adobe Creative Cloud: Photoshop and Illustrator | Mary Kovach and Phill Miano | 7/12/2023 | In this workshop, participants will be introduced to the features of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, as well as the overall functionality offered through their district’s Adobe Creative Cloud licenses. We will delve into using Adobe Photoshop to enhance photographs through a variety of adjustments. We will also explore using Photoshop for graphic design and creating photo-based works of art. Adobe Illustrator can also be used to create graphic designs and illustrations for a variety of purposes. The unique vector-based nature of Adobe Illustrator designs makes them scalable for any project and product, and its features allow for students and teachers to freely draw and fine tune their artwork. NOTE: In order to participate fully in this course, it is recommended that teachers already have Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and the Creative Cloud application installed on their devices. Nearpod | Brian Blaszak and Val Ess | 7/17/2023 | Looking for a classroom interactive presentation tool? What if the interactive presentation tool could also, give you instant formative assessment data? This session will focus on the basics of using Nearpod as a presentation and formative assessment tool in the classroom. One of the benefits of using Nearpod as a tool in your classroom is the fact that you do not have to go back and reinvent the wheel. Nearpod seamlessly works with Google Slides and PowerPoints and easily converts them into Nearpod presentations. Please bring some classroom materials to work on and integrate with Nearpod. |
SMART Notebook - Lumio | Brian Blaszak and Val Ess | 7/25/2023 | Lumio is SMART’s newest interactive software. Lumio is a tool that transforms static lesson delivery with game-based activities, formative assessments, and student collaboration to enhance learning experiences on any device. Lumio allows teachers to upload SMART lessons, give templates/manipulatives and provide live screen interaction with students. Teachers can utilize the SMART Notebook software and streamline their class notes and interactive components for lessons. Please bring your lesson materials to the workshop. |
IXL: Support and Monitor Student Learning | Dan Lynch | 7/26/2023 | IXL is personalized learning. With a comprehensive K-12 curriculum, individualized guidance, and real-time analytics, IXL meets the unique needs of each learner. In this training, teachers will learn how to best use IXL to support student learning and to monitor student progress. |

This 2 Day workshop will outline the risks, examine research, and develop strategies to help our students navigate the technology waters they are surrounded by. |
Design for 3D Printing | Antonio Scordo | 8/1/2023 | The one day workshop will utilize Tinkercad as we explore the special design considerations that must be taken into account when the end goal is a printed product and now just a virtual one. Key terminology, and elements of design will be covered as well as common slicer settings to get your file ready to print. We will also look at key features to consider if you were selecting a 3D printer. This session is open to all teachers with an interest in learning more about 3D printing. |
Naviance for New Counselors | Val Ess | 8/7/2023 | Introduction to Naviance. This workshop is for new counselors or anyone who would like a refresher. During this workshop, participants will explore all of the parts all of integrated services within Naviance to prepare your students for Career, College and Life readiness. |
QR Codes & Nearpod at the Botanical Gardens | Melanie Kitchen and Dan Lynch | 8/8/2023 | This professional development will explore ways to integrate QR codes into developing learning experiences for any grade level or content area. The Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens will serve as inspiration for ideation and problem solving into this PD! Teachers will learn to create educational resources in Nearpod that link to QR codes to create interactive and engaging learning experiences for students. All teachers should come prepared with their own computer and should ensure their district allows the use of Nearpod. Teachers will receive 5 hours of CTLE Credit/Hours for attending this training. An option to receive 3 additional hours will be available for completing a finished product for submission by 8/15/2023. |

EdPuzzle | Mary Kovach and Dan Wodarczak | 8/10/2023 | Turn any educational video into a lesson with EdPuzzle! EdPuzzle allows teachers to not only track student views, but also pause video in order for students to answer questions while they watch. EdPuzzle activities can be done as homework, as part of a "flipped" or blended learning classroom, or as an in-class video engagement strategy with the "Go Live!" feature. |

They will explore and brainstorm ways in which Kami could be used to support student instruction in their classroom. Educators should come prepared with a device with access to Kami.
