Camp Course Descriptions
Choose Four Different Camps to Attend Throughout the Week!
7-Hour Movie Challenge
Have you ever thought of becoming a filmmaker, actor, or director? Do you like to make videos on your phone or iPad? In this film camp, you'll work in groups to write an original story by creating a story spine. After the story is written, your group will use interactive storyboard software to visualize and film your story. You'll learn how to edit the video using video editing software and create an original musical score. Finally, you'll watch each other's films and choose the winner of the movie challenge! You will get to bring home a copy of your film to show your family and friends!
Adventures in Babysitting
Do you love to babysit? This camp will teach you skills that emphasize safety, awareness, art and science while caring for young children. Campers will make playdoh and slime, friendship bracelets, build with blocks and learn how to make fun, healthy snacks including fruit kabobs, smiley toast and smoothies. By the end of the week, you will know how to compile a first aid kit, run a safety scavenger hunt and know about food safety with young children.
Camp Culinary
Calling all campers! Come join us for another fun filled week in Camp Culinary! Learn what it's like to work in a professional kitchen. You'll spend the week learning to make delicious, camper friendly dishes. You will learn to cook safely in a state-of-the-art kitchen, develop independence and WOW your family with delicious creations!
Destination Animation
This Digital Media Camp will offer an animation project where students will journey into the colorful world of 2D animation! Using Adobe Animate and Photoshop, students will learn how to create simple animated movies. They will design and rig their own animated characters so they can interact with the worlds and story they created from their imagination.
Engineering and Robotics
In this camp, we will learn how to program a VEX robot to complete a maze autonomously. This means that you will control your bot by writing program code, not by using a remote control. In addition, you will create code to enable your bot to start and stop, follow a black line, turn 180 degrees and more. The program you create will tell your bot what to do and when to do it. Let the robot games begin!!
Express Yourself
Have you ever thought of becoming a hair stylist or a makeup artist? Maybe you just want to learn how to pamper yourself, your friends and your family? Experience a true spa and salon atmosphere. Campers will practice shampooing, braiding, simple up-dos, basic makeup, facials and nails. It's a week of fun and relaxation you'll never forget!
Flair for Fashion
Campers will enjoy a week being immersed in the creativity of the fashion world. Starting out, campers will learn basic sewing machine operations and create a patchwork fabric to be used to make a wearable piece of art. Fashion Illustration will be mastered allowing campers to use a croquis and design markers to create self-inspired fashion looks. At the conclusion of the week, campers will learn the basics of trend forecasting. The key elements of determining what will be the latest fashion trend everyone will be crazy for during the upcoming fashion season of back to school shopping.
Future Teachers
Have you ever thought about becoming a teacher? Do you love working with children or being a part of the learning process? If so, the Future Teachers camp is for you! This experience is designed for any middle school student interested in a career in education. Campers will learn about all levels of teaching, from early childhood to secondary education, while getting the chance to apply what they have learned in writing and teaching their own lesson.
Physics Fun
This STEM summer camp will teach skills that can be used for future careers in science, technology, engineering and math in a fun and engaging setting. Campers will learn life skills like problem-solving, creativity, and collaboration. Among the many activities done throughout the week, there will be several competitions. At the top of the list is a rocket design and launch, a boat building challenge, tower building and an egg drop challenge.
Summer Build/BUILD
Are you looking to try your hands at some carpentry this summer? Do you like to learn new skills and making your own projects? If so, you should join us to make some sawdust at Summer Build this year. This is a great opportunity to gain knowledge that you can apply to all kinds of future projects. We will learn how to read and interpret construction drawings to make a project you can be proud to call your own. We will learn how to safely use hand and power-hand tools and develop the different skills and techniques needed to build our project. You will gain confidence in yourself and your abilities, and at the end, have a great project to show off at home!
Video Game Design
