Aspiring Auto Tech Excited for Future
Devyn Waldmiller is a senior from Williamsville South High School and is enrolled in the Auto Technician Training program at Erie 1 BOCES Harkness Career and Technical Center.
“I enrolled in BOCES because I want to pursue a career in the automotive field,” Devyn said.
In the fall of 2021, following graduation, Devyn plans on going to college and pursuing his dream job of working on a race team.
Under the instruction of Robert Ward, Devyn has learned about computer diagnostics, steering and suspension, engine performance, and more.
“Devyn is an outstanding young man and a fine student. He participated in the 2019-2020 Ron Smith Memorial Auto Tech Competition as a junior,” said Ward.
“This program has provided me an advantage to reach my goals by exposing me to the basics of being an auto technician early on so I can advance quicker than others,” Devyn said.
As part of public education, Erie 1 BOCES offers a variety of career and technical programs during the regular school day to high school students in Erie County. High school students interested in learning more about how they can participate in various programs such as sports science careers, web technologies and game programming, health careers or aviation technology, should visit www.e1b.org/cte or speak with their high school counselor.
