School to Work Program
Ages 18 through 21
The Project SEARCH Collaborative is a business-led partnership which offers a unique, school-to-work program for students with disabilities who are in their last year of high school. The program is provided by Beechwood Continuing Care in conjunction with Erie 1 BOCES, Aspire of WNY and The Summit Center.
Program Highlights
- International program with over 300 locations across the globe
- Internship program located in a community-based business
- Employability skills classes offered daily
- Support of a special education teacher, teacher aide, job coaches, on-site job mentors and business liaisons
- Lessons are based on daily living skills such as nutrition and finances
- Individualized job development and placement
- Participation in multiple employment experiences
- Skills and Achievement Credential Earned
- Linkage with ACCES-VR and OPWDD
Students
- Ages 18 to 21
- Eligible for ACCES-VR and OPWDD services
- Completion of all academic requirements for graduation
- One year placement
